Glad you posted this. I was on a pneumonectomy for cancer, which had one black spot, but the rest of the tissue was smooth , pink, and healthy. This is a ...WOW.
And truly, they can look much worse than this. I have a bunch of lung condition photos including COVID, empyema, cancer etc. I’ll get around to posting them all eventually.
Tremendous. Both in a good way for my education (as a resident pathologist) but not in a good way because, well, flu definitely kills. Have seen some pretty gnarly stuff already in autopsy lungs but haven’t seen what flu-lung may look like. Coagulopathy definitely played a role I’m sure. Thanks so much for sharing Dr Wolfe.
So interesting. Thank you. I have a question for you…. Are you being exposed to massive amounts of virus when doing an autopsy? And if so, how do you protect yourself? Surely a medical mask isn’t enough…..
Thank you for this work today! IT is very timely.

I appreciate how well you composed this piece. Great writing, speaking and showing (pictures.)
I’m wiser and may be able to extend my life, and help others due to your good read. Much appreciation.
I’d love to know if the rate of 7 cases in 2+ months continues ~ seems a significant jump from prior years for you.

N95 mask+ face shield should reduce risk by 99%. I wear these for every autopsy.
Excellent, and timely, post. I wish people would get the various jabs available! And take appropriate cautions. Sad that it has been so politicised.
Excellent information. I share to others who do not have substack
