First of all let me say, I saw something this week in the morgue that I can’t wait to show you, and it’s very timely to things that are happening in the medical world right now. However, I will be waiting for some more data before I publish these interesting photos. But for today, let’s do a Friday Forensics, and this one will carry warning ⚠️ of “internal organ/tissue” and surrounding structures (but very little blood).

History: A 25 year old man had been complaining of persistent abdominal pain for weeks. His girlfriend urged him to get it checked out but he refused. Finally, he developed shortness of breath and abdominal pain so severe that he acquiesced and his girlfriend rushed him to the ER. His respiratory distress worsened and he then became unresponsive. Despite extensive medical intervention he was unable to be revived. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death. The area demonstrated in this photo was one of multiple similar lesions of the pathologic process that led to death:
